Pleasantly Overwhelmed

So most people would think that working 30 hours a week on top of being a full-time student with 5 extracurricular activities would make me a miserable mess. Well, they’re right. BUT, a stressed-out miserable mess is where I love to be. I’m a film major, I have to be thinking and creating and networking at every minute of the day. If I’m not running around with my head cut off, I’m not working the way I should be.

One thing I do NOT tolerate, is getting cussed at. I don’t know where a man gets the idea that cussing out an Italian woman will have zero repercussions. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that this man was German, I’ve heard things about you Germans…especially in my History books. But having the history of Hitler does not scare my Italian Mussolini self. Of course both men are horrid, but I’m just trying to make a point. Plus, the fact that my “labels” for my post include Hitler, Mussolini, and “head-cut-off”, totally amuse me.

Anyway, so I let this guy have it. It was an epic phone conversation held in the break room where my co-workers (predominantly females) stared at me in awe while listening to my every comeback and assertive I-am-the-shizz remark known to man. Something along the lines of “I don’t know where you think you come from, but you will NOT cuss at me,” etc. A lot of head movements and arm flailing. After which was followed by shocked silence, on his end, and me hanging up. Of course, after I hung up, my sister decides to have her protective-ness kick in, “Oh, who was that? Do I need to beat someone up, ’cause God knows I will beat someone up!” Nothing like a good blow-out to make my 10 hour shift something special.

*This post goes out to Nick for getting the project back on track with me.

Lessons for the day: Do not yell at an Italian. Do not cuss at a woman. But also, you have to work with all kinds of people, and understand all kinds of people.
